State of Decay YOSE

I will be playing this tomorrow, and I can't wait. The original though rough in some spots technically was an awesome take on the zombie angle, and finding supplies, boarding up houses, and rescuing people felt realistic.

I never got to finish the 360 version, and I  never picked up the DLCs, but with the price reduction for previous gen owners, it was a no brainer for me.

I really liked the 2nd dlc was a solid addon to the game, the hours I got out of it were worth the $$ although that's not an issue now since its included.

Never played the first one as it was released after I had gotten rid of my 360, so I rented this version from GameFly and I should have it today or tomorrow hopefully. Interested in checking it out for sure.

I'm quite disappointed that the number one feature I wanted (Multi-player) and they talked about adding for a long time is missing in this.

i am enjoying it a lot.   the graphics are still crap, and i experienced a number of glitches even in first couple of hours.

but it is still great fun.  i don't see a save game option, so when you lose a team member you got used to and liked, it hurts.

i am glad i am playing it now, as a more complete package, and not the original or especially not the early access versions.

definitely my Walking Dead fix, until Telltales does season 3.

They already said many times it's not coming to this game though.  It is in the works for their future projects, just not this.

Does that mean I can't be disappointed?

The MP was talked about as a DLC for the original XB360 version, they canned it. and said "I can say definitively that co-op multi-player will be the absolute heart of any future State of Decay games."

IMO, this is a future SoD game, so if once again they state not this time but definitely in the future, what stops them saying the same on the next one and the next one?

how is this future game when it is basically game of the year edition.  nothing future about it at all.   just a compilation of tweaked original and DLCs.

it even looks like it has all the bugs of the original release... LOL

Can't argue with that....because I don't know how you could call it that when it's the same game.

Heh.

I guess its just a difference of opinion, it required development, its on a completely different platform/Architecture so whilst it might be "the same game" in terms of what you and I might play, its still a "new" product that will generate income.

I just think its a shame they didn't go hey, that thing we said we would do, then scrapped, why don't we do it this time around when we have the chance, this is just a missed opportunity to me.

Its not like I'm saying this game sucks because of this fact, I'm just disappointed it's not there, for me it was the only reason I didn't buy the 360 version and will more than likely not buy this version. I do however appreciate that is a personal thing and there will be far more where that is not as big of a deal breaker than it is for me.

Started it yesterday and i still enjoyed as much as i did on the 360.

I did have to start again as i died when searching the cabins at the start!

I was a little loud and i think every single zombie came to attack me. I must have got through about 30 zombies before being killed and they still kept coming.

It felt like a bug or a difficulty tweak because I never remember it being that bad.

I never did play the DLCs on 360. So looking forward to trying them out as well.

i am not a huge fan of the multiplayer and i do enjoy the game a lot.   so this is why i defend them :)

your point of view is fair too.

So I went into the game blind and did not realize there was perma death. Wish I knew that ahead of time.

I got past the first cabin area, crossed the river or whatever, was in a car on the way to the church and saw a factory and decided to stop, still in the car I heard the zombies but did not see them.

Decided to honk, and it worked, they all came out, so I was just running over zombies, and apparently I did not realize the tank on the side of the factory would explode if I ran over it, which I kind of freaked out as I had zombies hanging all off my car.

Amazingly the explosion did not kill me, just stunned me for about 20 seconds (I was near death), so I get inside the factory, go to search something, I still am not sure what it was, but whatever it was made a loud enough noise that every damn zombie came rushing into the factory, and since I was already low on health, Marcus bit the bullet.

A loading screen came up and next thing I know the girl and the other guy, Nick I think it was, is standing in front of the church and a cut scene started, and I got a bunch of messages about low morale, etc.

So yeah, I wasted about an hour since I had no clue death was permanent. Now that I do know I am going to start a new game when I check it out again.

It was definitely what I would describe as wonky. Controls were not tight, combat was not precise at all, just very rough around the edges, but it was fun, and sometimes that trumps all.

Did not love it, but kind of liked it. Glad I rented it though, that I can say.

I just prefer to play socially, I played the demo and I did enjoy the 30 minutes or so of the storyline it let you get through. But my disappointment is minor and shouldn't take away from what is a good game.

Who knows, I've got about

yeah man, that is like the selling point of this game.  the gravity of the situation.   cannot have that if you can just reload.

Alright I hate to say it but the Xbox One version is performing worse than I expected it to.  Might pick up the PC version later, but I don't really intend to before I get a 144hz or Freesync monitor so there's that.

I'm sure it'll be patched as well, though.

i am getting the same bug on pc.   after i switch characters at home, i get the loading screen that lasts forever. i can hear that the character is active, and i can run, and even engage in conversations... but all i see on the screen is LOADING screen.

so i have to quit game and start it again.  lucky it saves after you swtich character at your own base.

i hope this bug does not happen on the mission.

ps.

this is my second game, in new profile, as in the first one i lost too many good people.    in the first one, THIS ISSUE NEVER HAPPENED!

so annoying!

pps.

i hope this goes not kill my game 80% in, like it did in the final s.t.a.k.l.e.r game.

no one else has that bug and knows what to do to fix it?

i don't want to start again in profile 1, since i put 8 hours in it on the weekend.   really enjoying it, but goddam bugs

Well, I have both versions.  Because reasons.

The X1 version could be smoother when driving - you definitely notice it but it's not a huge problem.  The PC version is much more stuttery on my box.

I think all told I should stick with the X1 version unless they get some perf improvements in.

(Note I'm running win10 so I don't know if that's helping or not in this case.)
