Sorting files in windows explorer (Windows 7)

Recommended Posts

Say I had a folder that contained these files...

Blah_Apr_02.txt

Blah_Feb_02.txt

Blah_Jan_02.txt

Blah_Mar_02.txt

Blah_June_02.txt

Blah_May_02.txt

Would there be any way to sort these files alphabetically so they appeared like this...

Blah_Jan_02.txt

Blah_Feb_02.txt

Blah_Mar_02.txt

Blah_Apr_02.txt

Blah_May_02.txt

Blah_June_02.txt

1.  That wouldn't be alphabetically

2.  Probably not, but you could always rename so that instead of the month in words, you have it in numbers.  That way they would be in date order.

You need to use YYYYMMDD (or YYMMDD if you don't care about the century) date format at or near the start of the file name.

you would need to use numbers for the dates....Using the name or abbreviation of the month will not sort alphabetically being that A always comes before J in the English alphabet.
