patseguin Global Moderator Posted April 30, 2015 Global Moderator Share Posted April 30, 2015 I was using Windowblinds and Icon Packager on Windows 8.1 and I decided to upgrade to Windows 10 10074. I first restored the default UI and default icon sets and then uninstalled both programs. I did the Windows 10 upgrade and then had major icon problems. After the upgrade, the desktop icons reverted to the package I was using before reverting to the default Windows ones. Every single icon shortcut in my taskbar and start menu are now the default generic windows system file icon. I re-installed Iconpackager and reverted to the default icon set and everything goes to default except the network icon. That icon is displaying as the Windows 7/8 style icon and I can't change it. I also tried manually changing some of my shortcut icons but I got an error that it couldn't find the link file. What is going on? I deleted the icon cache file and rebooted but it didn't fix anything. How do I get Windows to display the correct icons again?

patseguin Global Moderator Posted April 30, 2015 Author Global Moderator Share Posted April 30, 2015 Just deleted it and rebooted and same problem! Thanks anyways! Anything else to try? I'm confused as to why all my shortcut icons would be gone, let alone the network icon reverted to a Windows 7 icon.
zhangm Supervisor Posted April 30, 2015 Supervisor Share Posted April 30, 2015 Is the user account linked to your Microsoft account? Does this translate to a brand new local user account?
