dlf
If I wanted to make my copy of Ubuntu 14.1 to look like Windows 7 (in any of the desktop environments) how would I? Would one DE be easier (and have less issues) to make look like Windows 7 then the others? And how to get some of the shortcuts I'm used too (Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Ctrl+Shift+Escape, etc) to work in said DE?
Mindovermaster Moderator Posted May 3, 2015 Moderator Share Posted May 3, 2015 Try KDE. That's about the closest you'll get. You can easily remap the keys to your liking. You mean 14.10? simonlang 1 Share
Unobscured Vision
Agreed. KDE will be the one that will get the closest to it. simonlang 1 Share

The Evil Overlord
Just out of curiosity, if you want another operating system too look (or even behave) like 7, why not simply get 7? (A little na

Well.. maybe not.. here is a start.. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2028896/how-to-make-ubuntu-linux-look-like-windows-7.html I dunno, I am sure you could do it with some heavy modifications. I mean you can get transparency with cinnamons task bar. Get the right themes, change it so there is no text just icons, replace some application icons... it's doable I think. All the DE's pretty much allow full skinning, gnome can do transparency.. enough tweaking and art work I am sure you could make them close. Frieder Saugschmerle
Hi, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B80SfhWhhiyZaEZFMEtWem5JNm8/view?pli=1 apply that on mint 17 and you`ll get this . Also have a better qtcurve theme on kde. Forget about rgba, its not stable ( yet) got it nearly pixel perfect running yes, but nothing for newbies. using tons of unsrtable software combinations. regards bluedxca93 dlf 1 Share
