Microsoft's Surface 3 now on sale, don't install Windows 10 on it yet

Microsoft's Surface 3 is now officially on sale and pre-orders are being shipped out. The device, which is the company's lower cost addition to the Surface family, starts at $499 and goes up from there as accessories like the Type cover and pen are not included at that price; for a full breakdown of the device, check out our review here.

The tablet is available around the globe which signals Microsoft's confidence in the product as previous generation products were limited in their release to the US.

We know that those who are getting their Surface this week will be tempted to install the latest build of Windows 10 on the tablet. For now, you should avoid doing this, as 10074 does not run well on the Surface 3 at this time; the system hangs frequently and the touch screen becomes unresponsive at times.

Many will likely take this to mean that Windows 10 is far from being usable but version 10061 of Windows 10 ran quite well on the Surface 3, so it's not all doom and gloom. We're bound to see improvements on this front quickly.

If you do receive your Surface 3 this week, let us know how the device is working for you and if you had any issues getting your tablet set up.
