PayPal Intends to Take Your Content, With New Terms of Service

I'd like to point out that this is domestic currently only to Ireland (see the IE in the URL provided to in the 'directly from Paypal' page).

The United States does not appear to share this update. But I could be wrong (came across this at work).

It's not a thing in the US (yet) but the new agreement in the US seems to allow them (and whoever they want) to spam your phone with SMS ads and robocalls.

It looks like it's most of Europe, the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Spain and probably most other places in Europe all display the same thing.

What's a real-world example of this? If your website accepts PayPal then they suddenly own your website?

to me it just sounds like they might "own" your post or tweet about paypal.

that'd be handy of they took ownership of your website they would then have to pay for it's running costs

So if a non-profit org, a hobbyist or Twitch streamer takes voluntary donations on their website via PayPal, does this mean PayPal claim copyright on said website?

If this is the case, how exactly is this even legal or even enforceable?!?

"When providing us with content or posting content" would suggest posts made to their developer or support forums. Not a website which takes Paypal. Those kind of clauses would be stuck down as patently unfair by most courts.

Some people don't understand lawyer speak. Fear is always commonplace among misunderstanding.

Granted I spend a lot of my time with 'lawyer speak', I'd be curious to know what your interpretation of this is.

Which I suspect are the same T&C's for this site and the post you just made, quite simply a forum cannot exist without such consent. Imagine for a minute asking Noewin to remove all your posts and how difficult and time consuming that would be, let alone how it would ruin thread consistency.

It's actually a built in functionality of Invision Power Board, it would ruin thread consistency sure, but it wouldn't be hard at all.

there's a video out on youtube that says the TPP is all about CORP control. say you are a medical firm in the US. you sell a device that kills hundreds in say china or japan. you can't sue because the corporations will be able to hold a trump card saying it will hurt their bottom line and no one will be able to bring any kind of suit against a foreign corporation either. hey guess what? Since Obama took over, he sent chrysler to china which he said he'd never do but did. so if chrysler builds a car that is faulty and hundreds of people get killed. NO REMEDY! why? because chrysler cannot be sued because chrysler would claim losses and no one can sue. the TPP will make up about 40% of the global market. in this case paypal. they can get away with it

the TPP is all about IP laws. intellectual property laws. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e13wPEXuVCI

And you do? Enlighten us.

Yes. And this is nothing to fear. It's to alleviate the hassle of having billions and billions separate contracts for all users. They DO NOT OWN your content. Simple.

put your pitchforks and haterade away. they essentially have to do this.

same as Facebook have to do it. otherwise they can't even store it on their servers but must immediately delete it as they have no right to it.

I'm seriously getting sick of the internet lately. Any fool with a keyboard can spread so much FUD it's making the internet a really crappy place to chill. I might try this "outside" thing I heard about...
