Google Wallet & Google Checkout

Question

My company is asking me to implement this but I am confused and could use some help.

From what I read online Google checkout was retired awhile back by Google as it did not provide good returns on investment for them.

Is this true?

Now for Google Wallet I did see it on Newegg but what I read online this is a system like Apple Pay for phones and apps and online is really just for Google + and Google Play Store and other Google Properties.

Can anyone confirm this? I noticed I was taken to Google Play site every time I logged into my Google Account. If I could implement on our websites it would be good but I need to get an answer so I can relay to them.

Thanks

As +Nik L says, Google Checkout closed a couple of years ago (well, it initially merged into Google Wallet, and then closed)

Whereas Checkout would allow you to accept payment for just about anything via your website (similar to the way PayPal does), Wallet has since changed to become dedicated to making purchases exclusively through the Google Play store.

If you wish to sell something outside of the Play store using Wallet, you're out of luck.

Thanks that is what I thought. I have marked this solved for you.

I do have one question. NewEgg still has it do you think because of how big and well known they are they were allowed to continue to use it?
