Max Norris
Just tossed it into a sandbox, didn't want a restart.. an upgrade is probably updating shell extensions though, would need to restart Explorer or just re-log in, doesn't require a reboot. For a simple viewer though have personally been using Sumatra on 7 or the store app for 8+, quick and lightweight with no background "helpers", although if you need to do advanced stuff (forms, PDF editing/"printing", etc) you'll want to look elsewhere. HoochieMamma
No, what's better is when their installer deletes itself for flash..... actually even better is how "auto update" for flash somehow involves you having to visit the website to download and install it manually when there is an update. MikeChipshop Member Posted May 20, 2015 Member Share Posted May 20, 2015 For full compatibility, yes. You'd be daft not to. This. It's still the most fully featured, most compliant PDF app out there (correct me if i'm wrong though). +E.Worm Jimmy 1 Share
Liana
I use PDF-Xchange viewer. It's not perfect, but it's a heck of a lot better than Adobe Reader. I also stopped using Flash player about a year ago and don't miss it at all. Every time Flash player would update it would just get worse anyway. Mulrian
I tend to just drag the files into Chrome and use it's built in viewer. Of course you lose some things, but to be honest I only ever view pretty basic PDF's anyway.

ranpan
Check out Sumatra PDF. Description:Sumatra PDF is a fast, minimalistic PDF, XPS, DjVu, CHM, CBZ and CBR viewer for Windows with no external dependencies, so you can easily run it from a USB drive. Simplicity of the Sumatra user interface is a high priority. http://www.sumatrapdfreader.org/free-pdf-reader.html +E.Worm Jimmy and fusi0n 2 Share
Krome
It's like they hate us and just want to troll.. I am not trolling! I installed Adobe a day ago and I was frustrated and I was about to post and ask Neowin how to fix that problem. But as you can see, even complaining or asking such thing would be a "troll" by your standard.

Ian W
We can update video card drivers without a reboot.. This is possible because of Windows Vista. But, update Adobe Reader..? Must Reboot.. Adobe used to be my favorite PDF viewer, but I have since made the switch to alternatives such as Foxit Reader and Sumatra. I like the former because it offers the Ribbon UI, but Sumatra feels more responsive and I believe that it takes up less hard drive space. fusi0n 1 Share

If they can figure out how to install Video Card drivers without a reboot.. Adobe Reader should be able to install updates without rebooting.. FoxIT is nice.. But, I use Adobe Acrobat because I use it everyday to either to do markups or make proposals.. I should have said that instead of reader.. lol Ian W 1 Share

Don't even start me on that utter ######, especially when it force opens a god damn advert after you've installed an update. I really hope whomever in adobe that hasn't bothered to make a proper installer gets smacked round the face with a shovel one day because of all the problems they've caused people with their god awful installer.
