Windows 8 misisng functionality from 7 explorer

Recommended Posts

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1.

On WIndows 7 I have explorer customized under Libraries. I have shortcut folders to point to different raid volumes my system has for images and utilities etc. When I open explorer all I see are folders top, and devices and drives bottom?! I can not add folders or shortcuts to folders.

I did a bing search for the Windows 7 explorer and realized I used a feature called libraries to add them. That is gone. Actually I re-enabled it but it is stuck at the bottom.

How do I move libraries to the top or can I just add my own shortcuts in folders in This PC which explorer now defaults?

I am contemplating just deleting the explorer icon off the taskbar and making one which is a shortcut for Documents and placing the links there in the meantime as a work around. Perhaps I am just old and not used to change :-)
