Elliot B.
Boss just bought a Dell U2515H (2560x1440), which supports DisplayPort ("DP"), mini DP and HDMI. The monitor came with a DP to mini DP cable. His Sony Vaio ultraportable laptop (unsure of model but has a Core i5-3210M CPU and a AMD video adapter) only has a HDMI port on it. Found an old HDMI cable and connected the monitor that way. The monitor won't go above 2048x1152. I have installed the U2515H drivers from Dell's website and the latest AMD video drivers. Windows 7 x64. Any ideas? Mindovermaster Moderator Posted May 26, 2015 Moderator Share Posted May 26, 2015 Could be the AMD video card is too weak to process that range. Are you doing this through Windows or CCC?

He said the stickers underneath the system shows SVZ131A2JM. Google doesn't show much for that but it's a Sony Vaio 13 Ultrabook.
Mindovermaster Moderator Posted May 26, 2015 Moderator Share Posted May 26, 2015 You try a different connection as DP to HDMI?
+Zlip792 MVC Posted May 26, 2015 MVC Share Posted May 26, 2015 Solution # 1: - Go to UEFI and disable Intel IGP and try. - Stick with AMD Display Output Solution # 2: - Try another port like Display Port with output using AMD Display driver and Intel IGP. Solution # 3: - I think when you connect it with Monitor, it uses Intel Integrated Graphic processor, which have known issues with HDMI. You can test these "Test" driver provided by Intel community for feedback purposes: https://communities.intel.com/thread/75262 In an ongoing effort to resolve HDMI display detection some users are experiencing, we are releasing a set of test drivers for Sandybridge, Ivybridge, Haswell, and Broadwell based graphics to gather feedback from the Intel Communities on resolving these issues. Some users have been able to resolve this issue by changing the display cable however, this may not solve the issue in all cases. These test drivers provide another option to address this issue. These test drivers are exactly that, test drivers, and only for testing the HDMI display detection issues. Please be aware that these drivers should not be used on mission critical systems and that we recommend a restore point be created on your system before installing these test drivers. LightDragon
An old HDMI Cable? Try a new one. The first HDMI Specifications didn't allow resolutions over 1920x1200. The cable need to be at least certified after specification 1.3 and needs to be an "highspeed" hdmi cable. For reference look at the wikipedia article under "version comparsion" and under "cables": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI iogbrideau and +Zlip792 2 Share

(no settings are cropped in the images above) If I change the option on the fourth image to "UEFI", Windows no longer boots ("Operating System not found", or something along those lines) I've tried those test Intel drivers, no change. Kai Y
Maybe you might need to set custom resolutions? Was searching and found this page: http://www.notebookcheck.net/2560x1440-or-2560x1600-via-HDMI.92840.0.html
Anibal P
Likely going to be the cable, get an good one, or use DP, or an adaptor, BUT it has to be rated for higher resolutions or it still won't work
kozukumi
Do you know what spec HDMI it has? The laptop I mean.
Jason S. Global Moderator Posted June 25, 2015 Global Moderator Share Posted June 25, 2015 What's the GPU? I agree with a post above - if youre trying to output to the laptop screen AND the monitor at the same time, then the GPU might not be able to handle the higher resolution.
