A prestigious Paris secondary school has been hit by scandal after schoolboys resorted to groping girls after having watched porn on their phones during their lunch breaks. The incidents have prompted a debate around the impact of porn and whether smartphones should be banned in schools.

the parents should use a ip restrictor to filter out websites unsuitable to children. They are free and very effective.

They make those for smartphones?

First time Ive heard of sexual assault being refered to as groping Im sure French prosecuters need to pick up on this assault and nip it int he bud before it becomes like the slap happy craze.

And what's the big deal here? Back in the days my male schoolmates used to touch the girls without watching porn.

So sexual assault is no big deal?

Ringleaders is a gross mistranslation of the original article, out of the six kids, only 2 were considered as leads, 2 others as followers and the last 2 watched

10 year olds with iPhone 6s?

In this particular school, it wouldn't be unexpected given the demographic class their parents are in

Back in the day, it was called playing doctor, or Touche pipi in french, it's about the other gender's body discovery, every kid goes through that phase, some are taught to keep their hands off, others are not, but it never made headlines. Heck, even I did it when I was their age IIRC.

The only difference here are :

- it happened in a prestigious school, with potential parental media connections

- People are getting so uptight these days, it's crazy. I remember 20/25 years ago, you could see ###### in TV Ads. Now, a sideboob on the red carpet in Cannes makes headlines for 2 days, wth ppl. (btw, gotta love how they cropped the Inrocks article cover pic. you can't even see an areola on the original, why bother?)

- and yea, porn is accessible quite easily, so kids will inevitably find what they're looking for, no more calling for your big bro to go buy you a magazine, or borrow your parents PPV tape recordings in secret

Ban mobile devices from being brought to school, problem largely solved. And you'll solve a few other problems too...

Ban a kid from doing something, guess what happens 10 seconds later?

Phones are already banned in classes to prevent cheating/interruptions, they're allowed only during breaks.

So you don't care if the girls didn't want to play doctor?  If they were willing participants I don't think they'd have reported it to their parents.

You should learn about a little thing called "consent"

Except that increasingly schools are providing kids with tablets to do their work on, and text books are being replaced by eBooks

Unfortunately, I agree, this is becoming a worrying trend, my son's homework is now handed in via flash drive, whatever happened to the good old days of pen and paper, libraries for research, and so on...

<rhetorical question>
