Samsung Silent On Disastrous Galaxy S6 Sales

Recommended Posts

I think it is well known that Samsung is losing to Chinese market to rivals while Apple is 1st the others 3 are chinese.  Samsung is number 4.

How do people feel about the S6 and Edge? To me, the S6 looks totally un-interesting, and the S6 Edge looks gimmicky and pointless.

I look at the S6 and was like , No removal battery? No SD Card slot? No thank you! Seeing how they were one of the onlycompanies left that were providing this and because of that their S3, S4, and S5 sales have been great. Take all that away and now you are just another phone maker.

Maybe people want a less expensive phone also the glass scratching issue is giving me 2nd thoughts on upgrading my S3 to an S6, not to mention the outrageous cost of the phone, but I'll never go to iPhone or Apple. MS maybe...

Indeed. They emphasized on the snappiness and lag-less Working of GS6 as if its something ground breaking. Its only their phones that lag and now they have finally fixed and made it a GS6 highlight.

But it's still got some good points:

1. Better Camera

2. At-least better design than their older flag-ships.

But then again its Samsung. Cons will be:

1. Slow updates (if unlocked). Super Slow updates (if its carrier branded)

2. Little to No support.

3. No ETA for updates for new features

4. No Resale Value

5. There will be 3 - 4 new editions (Active, Grand, Duo etc etc etc.) of this flag-ship within next few months. (and your's will feel old, and you'll feel cheated)

6. Battery Too small

Samsung is NOT Chinese, but Korean - that is a problem in China, where native firms have that "home field" advantage.  Unlike Korea, the United States is NOT looked upon with that much disfavor by Chinese consumers.

And you CAN remove a battery in Samsung smartphones, and both their phone and tablets support SD cards (back to the S3 and Tab 2, respectively) - you MAY mean the issue with the Tab 2 where the connector between battery and tablet has a crapton of issues (which has resulted in quite a few dead tablets) - however, the SD connector in the Tab 2 (and Nexus 3/S3) is bog standard.  If you are referring to the capacity of the INCLUDED SD card, why can't you simply purchase larger SD cards?  (The 32GB size is physically no bigger - why wouldn't it fit, or work?)

I don't really think that explains it. Chinese were happy with samsung until the 3 Chinese manufactures started to eat samsung low end smartphone business thus Samsung tried to make a high end S6 that is according to the article not doing well at all.

I saw a bunch of reports saying Samsung expected to sell 70 million Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

But they never said when they expected to sell that many.

This year?  Over the next two years?   When exactly?

Most flagship Galaxy phones remain on sale for over a year. You can still buy a Galaxy S5 today (and a pre-owned Galaxy S4 too)

There's quite a bit of difference between selling 70 million in 9 months versus 70 million over 24 months.

I love the S6. First Samsung device I own, and I never thought I'd purchase a Galaxy because of TouchWiz. It's less bloated, and the camera is amazing on it. Definitely looking forward to the Note 5 now!

Uninspired designs that they have been using for years now. Why would people want to buy the same thing again and again? They are really turning into Samesung.

Low end is being eaten away by local players in India and China and high end Anroid is a very limited market.

Firstly let me say for the record that I have had Samsung for last 4 handsets and been very pleased...

And now I probably won't again.  No removable battery, no SD card - they are losing the things that I loved about them...

Moreover, the S6 wasn't sufficient of an upgrade to the S5, and I still believe the rounded corners will be proven a gimmick.

I was given an S3 a while back. Wasn't a fun phone at all so I was very happy to go to a Nexus after that. Updates were just too slow and TouchWiz was far too taxing on the system.

I doubt I'll ever actually spend money on a Samsung smartphone. So many better options out there.

I have the S6 and quite enjoy it.

Removable battery and SD card slot? I don't miss either. The battery lasts throughout a full day with > 4 h screen on time for me; as for storage, most of my files are stored in the cloud or (when it comes to music) being streamed.

This was basically my decision after owning a S4... Touchwiz does slow even in its latest iteration on the s6, consensus in reviews sites is it got a bit better, but still a long way from less clutered skins like LG's and Sony's (and not up to par at all with Sense's smoothness)

+1 for Note 5. I wouldn't give up my Note 4 for anything currently available, including an S6.

No removable battery. No SD card slot. Low end market getting dominated by local manufacturers. Very slow for OS updates.

Samsung is losing traction. I still keep with Samsung though because Touchwiz sans launcher and a lot of the features with it are just so much better than on other roms.

Good, maybe people actually want a removal battery and an SD card slot.

I think it may be more about what you get for your money, I realized I didn't want to waste so much money on a finger print reader so I got a Z3 instead which is much better value, sure it may be slower, though you'll never notice and miss some features you'll never use. But I can do everything the S6 can for half the price and better looks. Better camera too, but not nearly the quality I'm used to though :/
