Knock Me! - When silence can't speak!

Hey guys!

I just updated and made my Android App stable for daily use, it's called Knock Me! - When silence can't speak!

Here is the App's description which will give you a good idea about what problem it's trying to solve and how the solution works:

post-393368-0-37168600-1432739884.png When was the last time you lost your phone in your room and you kept calling it just to realize that you had put it on deep silent mode or when was the last time you were so busy that you checked your silent phone after a long time to see a stack of missed call notifications? Well worry no more, I have got a cool little App for you. So the idea is that, let's assume one of your friend has been calling you, your phone is silent and it's really urgent for him/her to contact you. So what he/she can do is send a knock word via SMS, the word could be - "urgent". Once the SMS is received by you, the next time when he/she calls you, your phone will ring ONLY for his/her number irrespective of your phone's sound setting.

I would love to hear some feedback from you guys! I would specifically like to know how can I shape the App to something more than what it does at present. Currently I have the following features planned for future version.

Additional feature in future version:
  • When a call is received from a person multiple times, the phone will automatically send an SMS stating that the user's phone is now in silent/vibrate mode and if it's urgent he/she may send an SMS "urgent" and then call to ring.
  • Checking for pattern of words in SMS.
  • Configure the sound volume to ring at.
  • History of contacts who used knock words.
  • History of contacts who have been trying to reach you a lot of times but didn't use Knock words (most likely that they don't know about it.)
  • You may expect integration with WhatsApp and other services' messages as an option.

I was thinking of this idea, if the App is installed in your friends/contacts phones, you will be able to search 'their' phone's contact database for a particular number, say you received a call from xxx-xxx-xxx number and now you want to check if it's saved in any of your friends phone. Once found, the App will list the different names with which the number is saved in your different friends' phones without revealing the source of each name. Is it something ideal for the nature of my App?

Again, thanks a lot for reading through my post!

Pretty cool on the app. Always good to see another developer making strides.

For my view, I'm not sure I would use the app. I would much prefer something that works a lot like my iPhone. Allowing me to set a "Do Not Disturb" setting, but allow my self chosen "VIPs" to break through that setting and reach me anyway. This leaves me with the control I need. I'm able to differentiate between "vibrate" mode and a "DND" mode.

For instance, if I'm at work and I'm in a meeting... A caller punching in the override and forcing my phone to ring can lead to problems for me...

Keep in mind, to the caller almost every call is urgent. Otherwise, they likely would just text anyway. So giving them control seems dangerous to me when you're attempting to reduce the intrusion of the ringer.

Hi LogicalApex!

Thanks for your response, I have got such similar response by quite a number of people. And you're fair at your point.

However, the App was made with the perspective that, you are going to share the 'knock word' with only few trusted people who will be aware of the precious key you are providing them. So, they are expected to use it only when it's really a urgent situation. So, if you are in a meeting, and you put your phone in DND/Vibration/Silent mode, it's going to be in that mode, but when it's really urgent it really doesn't matter if you are in a meeting or not, the caller urgently needs to talk to you, I am sure you can justify that later to others.

Imagine a scenario where you have put your phone on silent, and you are busy continuously for a couple of hours. Now, if some of your trusted people are in some urgent situation, they can surely kinda knock you to pick up the phone. Priority mode, let's your caller either override you or not. This App on the other hand tries to create a balance between priority mode and absolute DND mode.
