New Xbox One controller coming?

I'm sure that there was always talk of a more "hardcore" controller being released. Not sure what "hardcore" refers to though.

Actually, it doesn't. IMO it's better to have the volume controls in reach on the gamepad than dangling on a wire. They should have just bundled that adapter with every controller.

The Adapter is bundled with a lot of the made for XB1 headsets so unless you already have one I don't think it's a big deal. I could be wrong but I'd assume a lot of XB1 owners would be buying one of the made for XB1 style headsets (Turtle Beach etc) rather than having something already and wanting to use that.

I've never fully appreciated why anyone would have a headset with a 3.5mm jack rather than USB so assumed its a PC gamer type thing - those who game on a PC tend to have the money to burn on a

The headphone adapter was archaic. Glad they've seen sense

The adapter offers more functionality at your fingertips.  now if the volume controls and such were built into the controller then this controller is a must have.  Tacking on the 3.5mm port is whatever IMHO...

Headphone ports in any way have no place in a controller

If you play games at night it's much easier to pop your headphones into the controller over your TV....

Not everyone owns a gaming headset, and some may want to use their own headphones.

I personally think a stereo jack for those that need one is a great idea on the controller.

I know that the 3.5mm jack is known and common throughout the universe, but I would like to also see more advanced audio options as well.

It doesn't have to be proprietary...

Could a micro hdmi or USB port be added, and have headsets with those options on them???

They would either tank a controllers battery, or make it look ugly. When you start talking USB you're better just having a headset with a USB adapter that plugs into the console (so wireless).

Wouldn't micro-use or micro-hdmi offer better sound quality, or am I way off?

ummm, what.

pc gamers are the ones more likely to have usb ports on their headsets though. i don't understand why anyone would have a usb plug instead of a universally compatible jack plug.

and actually that's the point most people already have a decent or good headset and don't need to buy one just for the xbox.

Like I said, I have no idea why I'm assuming that its some sort of thing only hardcore PC gamers would do. Its the only thing I can imagine that 3.5mm jack headsets would exist.

If not and anyone can tell me why I'd be happy to know.

When it's 2 channel stereo, nah.

Who cares if it has a jack or not?  Having it doesn't remove the other port that's already there, you can use either now, go with whatever you like.  It's better to have it then not have it IMO.
