Hatred is Out

At the risk of asking a silly question...

Is it only going to be available for PC's?

I never heard of AO games on consoles.

It's a dual-stick shooter, with a fairly striking visual style (the black and white with some elements in colour) and kind of interesting physics and destruction.

More competent than most people expected. The dialogue is corny as hell (worse than your average bad B movie) and extremely cringe worthy. It's like something a depressed 15 years old with an unhealthy obsession with Slipknot might come up with. The most damning thing you can say about it is that it's pretty boring to actually play.

All the controversy surrounding it did was give it exposure and free marketing it would otherwise never have had.

No doubt banned for us in AUS.

Browsing through my feeds I didn't see any news about it. Are there any reviews about it?

Reviews are not great. It's got some decent design but the overall game becomes tedious and boring. It'll bank on emotional wrecks screaming about how offended they are.

Personally, I consider it a pass. I was pretty pumped for it but I've read/watched some reviews now and it's really not that interesting.

It not being sold in Australia is pretty funny though; it'd probably only stop those old enough to play it, kids these days are very resourceful.

I wasn't expecting all that much. Anyone who goes so far out of their way to make something offensive usually only has that trick up their sleeve.

That's pretty much the point of the game, to capitalize on the people who get offended at other people not liking stuff.

Pretty average twin-stock shooter as far as I can tell.

That's their free advertising and marketing. I guess the gamers who feel marginalized by the industry will see this as some sort of statement. Gullible idiots and their money are soon parted.

Pretty much, they didn't release in Australia or Germany on purpose, and already people are claiming that it's censorship (But not self-censorhip, that's bad of course. It's the evil Government and Valve that are doing it).

Looks appealing to angst ridden teens. Cant say Im one of those..

Maybe if I sit in the dark, listen to some Cradle of Filth and dress like im forever at a funeral... I might just get into this.

Tho kind of doubt that.

Deffo a pass from me. Violence for the sake of causing offence is not for me.

I always thought that AO was reserved for games with sex in them.

It doesn't have any rape executions or anything like that and the violence is teen at best.

I think social justice warriors are just giving it free press. That's good I guess. I mean if not for the controversy I wouldn't have bought it.

Translation: 'Look at how edgy I am! I'll buy a crappy game, just to show the damn SJWs!'

You're symbolic for everything wrong with the GamerGate/anti-SJW movement.

Let's say you dislike the articles and whatever agenda the "games media" is trying to push. What would you consider the best or just a better method of showing disapproval? Although I suspect at least some of these sites just use fake outrage since the GamerGate controversy must have brought them a lot in advertising cash.

P.S. I didn't buy/play the game or have any intention of doing so.

The creators of this game are smart: they cashed in on all of this tension and did it without creating anything particularly interesting or ground-breaking. It seems like it is just passable for a twin-stick shooter. They used outrage marketing to pretty good effect. I'd be interested to see what sort of sales they achieve.

Sold!

I totally feel marginalized by the industry so I'm going to buy this as a statement!

Since I'm a gullible idiot with money to burn this is a great option!

I'd love to be a symbol for everything wrong with the GamerGate/anti-SJW movement, all I have to do to accomplish that is buy a cheap crappy game?!?

SOLD!!!

Heck I may buy copies to gift to friends so they can be symbols too!!!

Total Biscuit did a good review and talked about nonsense the rest of game "journalists" are sprouting.

By ignoring it.

---

I played it last night for 45 minutes or so. It was really boring and the only part I found interesting was getting into a Cop Car, but unfortunately as soon as I got into the Car a Cop shot it 2 - 3 times and it exploded. Because realism. Anyways it made me want to play a proper version of this game so I booted up the ol' DS and played GTA Chinatown Wars; it's like Hatred, but gooder.

Completely wrong yet again just like every other time you've opened your maw about Gamergate.

Responsibility for Hatred's popularity can be laid squarely at the foot of media like Polygon and the perpetually offended SJW crowd they pander to, you have no one to blame but yourself.

"Crappy and otherwise unheard of game made by unknown developers that offends my delicate snowflake sensibilities? Let's write 50 articles about it!"

Edit: Let's not forget how often the SJW crowd will quite happily throw money at crappy games just because the developer is a "minority" either.
