Windows 10 upgrade options

Recommended Posts

Hey guys just a quick question if anyone knows..

If I opt for the windows 10 free upgrade from windows 7 ultimate will it install the pro/ultimate edition of win 10 or just give me the home version?

Also visually can win 10 be fully customised like previous version mainly icons?

You will get the Pro version of Win10. See the news article.

Remains to be seen how much of Win10 can be customized - depends what you are thinking and how much. It's likely to be similar to Windows 8.1, changing icons shouldn't be a problem.

That's great thanks for the replies :)

1 other thing, does windows 10 have all the features windows 7 has?

And in your opinion is windows 10 worth the effort does it live upto the hype?

You will be losing some features when upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

As for whether it's worth the effort - there is no objective answer to that question. I'd suggest installing the technical preview on a secondary PC or in a virtual machine to see how you like it.

It will probably eventually live up to the hype, you will have a year to decide whether you want a free upgrade or not so it may be worth sitting it out for a few months if you are undecided.

I'm curious, I have nearly 50 emails for various reasons. If I signed up using all 50 emails, using a virtual machine and just cloning it, could I, in theory, get 50 keys? :D

Even if you could what are you going to do with them? It isn't like Pokemon where the goal is to horde them all. Everyone is getting the same free upgrade so there isn't resale room. I'm also sure MS will kill the key if it isn't activated soon enough further weakening resale ability if that is what you were hoping for.

No, all my damn friends ask me to work on their machines. I'm tired of using my Windows 7 Image for them. I don't like breaking their EULA and sharing the image I have. So I thought that I could get away with having multiple keys, and giving them away.

I'd upgrade them all to Windows 10, but I'm not trying to be greedy. Even 5 keys would make me happy.

1. Personal (Desktop)

2. Brothers PC

3. Mom's Laptop

4. Lab Key

5. Friends & Family Key.

I think 5 would suffice. I'm not sure how Microsoft feels about me creating a Windows 7 Pro Image with the key activated and put on several PCs. Windows is expensive enough already, purchasing 10 keys at 200$ a pop, @_@
