Random crashes and issues with Nokia Lumia 620

Recommended Posts

I am facing several issues with my current Lumia 620:

- ending call button doesn't work properly and have have to tap it several times before the connection ends

- random BSOD and I have to take the battery out and reboot

- handing of start screen and not being able to pick up the phone

Is this a common thing on the Luma 620?

And will the Lumia 635 (new phone) fix these issues?

Maybe a next Windows Phone (screen size < 5"0) doesn't have these issues. That's why the 635 is mentioned here.

Windows Phone 8.1? Look for "Gestures Beta" for the pick up/hang up issues. Ensure the app is from Microsoft ;)

Yes, Windows Phone 8.1 Denim.

What does "Gestures Beta" actually do to help/prevent this issue?

Well I knid of hoped you would look up the app and read the description.. it allows you to physically pick up the phone to answer a call and then put it down to end the call, bypassing button presses.

I read it indeed, but besides picking up without physically touching the buttons.... I am more looking for a permanent fix/solution instead of this "workaround".

Idea, back up your stuff, then run the windows phone recovery.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/mobile/support/faq/?action=singleTopic&topic=FA142987

It will download, and reapply a clean factory image to the phone.

Does it crash with an microSD card in it?

If there's one in there also try swapping it.

Have you tried a hard reset; wiping the phone to factory defaults?

^ Indeed, but that method sucks :p But might be the last resort.

My mom has a 521 and had the same issue with not being able to end the call.  Ended up being the digitizer; replaced it once and all was well for a few months.  Once it started failing again she just ditched the phone and got a 635.

This might be a good option if it is indeed -also in my case- a faulty digitizer...
