OK, they've clearly got some issues with the video side of things so far, but I'm frankly astonished at how fast that's running... I'll be watching this project, for sure!

Now we just need MS to buy it, fix it, and load it on Xbox One, and I'll be happy.

No thanks.  If they do that, there'll be no emu on the PC!

Pretty nice, emulation of the 360 on the PC is probably more advanced than emulation of the Xbox Classic now.

Microsoft probably could it way better themselves, no point in buying this.

Damn, I was hoping this was Microsoft with all their $billions and wealth of knowledge working out how to get 360 games to work on xbox one

Wait for E3 :p would make for a nice surprise :) also, money doesn't magically makes all this happen

Money can temporarily hire some people, prehaps the same people who made app-v, to work on the xbox compatability.  Soon as they get that working i'll be buying an xbox one and I think quite a lot of people who havent moved over yet will do the same, but hopefully something in e3 might get announced

Not necessarily... Remember Bleem? 3rd party PS1 emulator that Sony ended up buying because they couldn't do better...

You're comparing Sony to the biggest software behemoth in the tech industry.

Emulation just isn't worth the effort when the 360 and PS3 are still sold in retail. They'd rather put out HD remasters, or in Sony's case, PS Now. Ways to make more money rather than emulation.

I submitted an idea to Microsoft to develop a "DVD" Drive for XBOX/360/One Games.

You'd put the game in your PC, load up their "XBOX" Software, and bam.

You'd have to buy their special drive, controller adapters, etc. They could make tons of cash on this, but never once heard/saw anything.

Did they buy them? I thought they sued them, Bleem won, but had no money afterwards.. I loved Bleem..

Detracts too much from owning the Xbox One, and it's ecosystem. MS ignored the PC realm for quite a while to guide gamers to the Xbox platform, now they're opening up a bit as PC gaming is flourishing. They won't go so far though as to cut out the need of owning a dedicated Xbox platform, just far enough to profit from PC gaming. Getting people invested in a platform is far more lucrative, as then they're tied into your 1st party store, online subs, etc.

You could quite easily see that drive of yours "opened up", as you know the PC realm is the world of homebrew/open source/etc :p

A little bit of both. They got sued, ran out of money and closed, then the people who started bleem went to work for Sony.

Sony, despite having lost its case with Connectix, continued to pursue legal action against Bleem!. Bleem!, financially unable to defend itself, was forced to go out of business.

As of 2005, 2 members of the team were working for Sony - Randy Linden was working for SCEA on porting titles and looking at the possibility of emulation of previous generation titles for the next PlayStation[citation needed], and Sean Kauppinen was promoting EverQuest II and Star Wars Galaxies for Sony Online Entertainment.

Well MS took their tiny moment to offer something the competition isn't doing: Offering compatibility with the games you already own without paying for it.

If the emulation is solid, games play fine, and they continue to add support on a regular basis, then this is a boon for 360 owners and I think it still has the potential to bring new X1 buyers. It really seems like there are still so many people on last gen consoles and so many people in that group that don't want to get rid of the library of games they already have.

Heck, I know I love the feature. I even get to migrate digital games over, not to mention all of my save games. Its exactly what I hoped backwards compatibility could be. I had thought MS would end up with a streaming option, but this is much better if it works.
