0 +BudMan MVC Posted June 11, 2015 MVC Share Posted June 11, 2015 The best spam blocker is the server getting your mail in the first place. Doing spam filtering at your desktop client is too little too late. Who is your email provider? goretsky 1 Share

0 +BudMan MVC Posted June 11, 2015 MVC Share Posted June 11, 2015 so just your isp default email like billy@cox.net ? yeah their spam filtering most likely blows.. Did you login to your control panel and enable spam filtering - comcast has this for example http://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/internet/spam-filters-and-email-blocking quick google for cox shows this http://www.cox.com/business/idaho/support/data/article.cox?articleId=d3bddfc0-6ced-11e0-4e73-000000000000 But it seems quite dated.. You might want to look into something other than your default isp email account if you want good service and filtering. goretsky 1 Share
0 max22
Yes. Yep spam filtering does suck for my ISP and I do have it enabled. Is there not any software or service to stop the spam mail ?
0 +BudMan MVC Posted June 11, 2015 MVC Share Posted June 11, 2015 well the thing is with stuff you run on the client - the email is already in your mailbox, and has already been delivered and most likely if your using pop to access your emails already downloaded to your client, etc.. this is why its best to filter it at the server. I have not used a spam filter on actual client in YEARS!!! that is back in the days of dial up And it was flawed then.. You need to filter the spam before it gets to your mailbox.. I personally would start using a different email, one that has good filtering. I like gmail - don't see much of any sort of spam to be honest. And I get a LOT of email.. I used a spam filtering service that was a free a long while ago and it did really well. I can't remember the name of it but it would block spam email on the server side before it got to my inbox. Sadly it shutdown.
