So yesterday my $30 VR headset for my phone arrived.

After i bought it I Realized there is no QR code to scan into google cardboard to calibrate it so keep that in mind when buying one of these headsets.

I put my LG G3 inside and gave it ago.

So I played a 360 Paul McCartney video

it was ok nothing great, it does give you a wow moment a for a few moments the very first time

Then I Tried a virtual rollercoaster game. Going into any type of VR you have to understand that you need really good frame rate other wise you are probably going to get ill, the demo on my phone was very laggy and jerky at times and over all not very good.

So then I'm starting to think, well this was a fun little disappointing experiment.

But then I came across side by side 3D youtube videos, and WOW.

To be honest this is where this really shines.

For anyone who is thinking of trying out Google Cardboard i'm going to recommend 2 videos for you to play on on your phone. When the videos pulled off 3D they did so VERY well. I played them on mplayer with a aspect radio of 21:9

In this video they just throw stuff at your face, and its VERY well done.

This next one is a documentary about fish in the Ocean, and the 3D is AMAZING!

If you ever want to give a person a 3D video demo using a VR headset for your phone show them those 2 videos.

I just showed my friend who was here, and he said "WOW.. That's really 3D"
