Can I get a stock Android Lollipop 5.1.1 build to put on a Moto G 2nd gen?

Hello everyone.

I have never had an Android device and even though I'm not a technical newbie, I don't know how flashing a new Android build on a phone works, whether it be CyanogenMod, etc.  Can one get a stock Android build, like stock Lollipop 5.1.1, and put it on a Moto G 2nd Gen phone?  Or does Motorola have some types of locks in place to prevent that?

 

I would have the same question about the Elephone P8000 that will be coming out or other devices.

 

Any insight about all of this or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

If your phone isn't rooted, you will have to wait until Motorola sends out the OTA.  The XDA site has a wealth of knowledge on different Android devices.  Check it out.  Here is the link for your device:  http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g
