I just re-installed Windows 10 yesterday, cos I got a lovely new M.2 drive and these drivers were installed automatically on to 10130 for me. I didn't have to do any trickery or anything special, Windows just installed them from Windows Update.

Does anyone else get that device lower down as well? (PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller) I don't have a clue what it is and I've installed all the drivers from the motherboard site.

That is the streaming support to and from the NVidia SHIELD - this is fixed in a later driver.  (It's NOT present in Fermi-based GPUs; however, it IS present in most Kepler-based and Maxwell-based GPUs.)  The current Game-Ready/WHQL'd/Windows 10 IP driver should clear that up.

Also, this same driver now explicitly support more Kepler GPUs than the TP driver did (and adds support for several Fermi-based CPUs - my GTX550Ti is now explicitly supported).  However, my comment about it buying time (for Fermi ownewrs) still stands.  Tick, tick, tick....

352.84 is old from May 15th, there are newer Windows 10 drivers on Nvidia's site. 353.30

That is what I referred to just above you.

353.30 supports GT/GTX5xx and later directly (no mod needed).  However, given the lowered prices for Maxwell and Kepler-based GPUs for desktops, the clock on Fermi continues to tick.

Why is this needed? Do the newer drivers not work with older cards on Windows 10?

The latest driver shows up on Nvidia.com for 2XX, 3XX, 4XX and 5XX series also, so I dunno what they are doing in the OP post.

Right, gotcha, so anyone looking at OPs post, just use 353.30.

The post predates the new driver (which just released this week - I just installed the driver myself three days ago).  The post was dated two days prior to the release of the new driver.

I see. I wonder if they've fixed the TDR issues that were plaguing the 352.xx drivers. Will have to see later.

Will my Nvidia 9400GT from 2008 not work on windows 10 RTM or will it use a generic windows driver or will it not work at all?

It's 7 years old; time to get a newer card.

I don't game and rarely use it, i use my laptop 99.9% of the time. Buying a newer gpu doesn't make sense for me, especially when it works perfectly.

Likely a generic driver.  torrentthief, is the issue cost/price in terms of your desktop?

I pointed to CURRENT prices for Kepler (and even Maxwell) GPUs that are supported by the current driver - unless you are so poor that you qualify for the ACA (and that may be the base only for the bottom end of the group that also has desktop PCs), expense is actually going away as an excuse.  Any time Maxwell (let alone Kepler) is in the lower end of the one-C-note ($100USD) price range, not moving is basically a stall - even, if not especially, if your current NV (or AMD, for that matter) GPU is the age of Fermi or older (in AMD's case, HD5xxx or older).

It should work. If you don't game much, you shouldn't have any problems.
