Displaying Hidden File URLs

Question

Capturing streamed videos is very popular, that's why there are endless packet sniffers
or sniffers integrated with download managers. That's not what I'm searching for.

I download files from numerous file sharing or cloud storage sites. I use a dedicated
computer for downloading large files. I have no need for lightning fast downloads using
a multi-thread manager. With the setup I'm using, it doesn't matter if a file finishes
downloading in three minutes or three hours.

What I want very much is to see the "real" URL for a file, before I start a download. File
sharing sites use redirects and numerous other complex tricks to hide URLs.

You can easily find plugins or extensions for all popular download managers. The problem
is they will only load the correct URL if the link is direct. If the manager is started manually,
it will simply capture the URL in the address bar.

Your browser's download applet will load the correct URL for a file sharing link, and present
you with a "save as" box. The problem is you must start the download before the URL is
displayed by the applet.

Has someone found a way to fully integrate a download manager, so it will start with the
correct URL? All managers have the option to download immediately, or wait for a mouse
click or keyboard command. That would solve my problem, because I could see the real
URL before agreeing to download a file. (FlashGet is my favorite manager, but I'll switch
in a "flash" if another manager does the job!)

While searching for a solution, I was hoping to find an open source app that would capture
these hidden URLs, after clicking "download file" at these cloud storage sites.

I've googled too much about this already. I haven't found anything useful. Maybe I'm
not using the correct search terms. Help please.
