CPU Cooling

Recommended Posts

I currently have a Corsair H80i. When I recently put it in a new case, it doesn't seem to work anymore. I have all cables connected. It just, doesn't seem to work for me.

should I like disconnect everything and try again? Or should I just get a new heatsink? like the CM Hyper 212 Evo, or Arctic Freezer 7 Pro? (used in past)

It's running ~75C without power to it, so I'm not trying to push it any harder than needed atm.

Meh, scratch the above. I forgot to plug in the CPufan connector, and the SATA power connector wasn't on "all the way". So working fine now. Down to ~30C now. :)

However, I do have another question... Why do CPU fan(s) sound like a train for 20 seconds off a cold boot? I read online everywhere and they say this is normal. But, exactly, why? I read that It needs that extra umpth on startup, I thought your CPU is barely used on Boot-up... CMOS uses more power.

There a way to like disable this in BIOS?

-30C? Unless your computer is out in the frozen artic I am assuming you meant 30C :)

The reason the fan starts out at 100% is because the power is turned on to the fan, before the BIOS loads any real time controllers that will base the speed of the fan on the temperature of the processor.
