Build 10158 Why can't I enable Remote Desktop Access?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else noticed that the enable Remote Desktop options aren't available under System->Remote in build 10158? Am I going crazy? I've tried manually enabling RDP access via the registry and yes I even shut down the firewall just to be sure.

I'm not able to RDP into this and it doesnt seem like the options to RDP even exist anymore. What gives?

Attaching an image of what i see when trying to enable RDP in System->Remote

that screenshot is typical of home edition not professional - can you check which version

Isn't Windows Insider Preview only Pro and Enterprise, both of which have Remote Desktop enabled.

Neowinian was right. I was running 10147 (I thought this was a pro version but maybe not?) and now I see that I'm running 10158 Home Edition. I'm not sure how it happened but is there a way to upgrade to pro?

You can try via Settings > System > About > Change product key or upgrade your edition of Windows

and entering pro product key (use google, but it's the same as for 10147).

Alternatively you can download 10158 esd/iso and use it to upgrade to pro. Your files, apps and settings will be preserved.
