CyanogenMod is developing a Chromium-based browser called Gello

The team behind CyanogenMod, the popular open source Android-based OS, is working on its own web browser. Team member Joey Rizzoli posted a tantalizing teaser video on Google+ today, giving only a hint of what's in store.

The new browser is called 'Gello' and, in keeping with the spirit of CyanogenMod, it's based on open source Chromium code. However, Rizzoli didn't share any further information, promising only that the team "will unveil more soon!!".

From the various screenshots included in the brief teaser video, it's possible to spot a few features that Gello will offer, including an offline reading mode, granular privacy controls (including per-site settings management) and a flexible download manager, among other things.

It's not clear how far development has progressed so far on the new browser, so it's anyone's guess when it might actually be released, but we'll let you know when we hear more.

You can check out some screenshots of the browser in the gallery below.
