win 7 Bluetooth issues

I have a Kinivo bluetooth adapter that I have plugged into my system. I have a nice pair of headphones that I am attempting to pair with said device, I have had it paired previously but had to do a reinstall. I have installed all the software that came with the adapter and still can not get the headphones to pair with the PC, they are paired to my cell phone, but i have another bluetooth headset active on my cell, so there should not be any conflict, I have even shut off bluetooth from the phone while having windows search for a new device. I recall having to jump a few hoops to get them to install the last time, but no mater what I do now it will not even detect the headphones (yes I know that headphones are in pairing mode). I'm looking for any other suggestions of what I should do next, I may call there support line, but they are already closed for the day.
