and time to switch career... when something didn't work to what I was expecting. I switched career and I became more successful after that.

Anyway, from what I understand countries with free health care also have nice long waiting lists. Hope people don't die while waiting.

Yeah, those who seek to use the NHS as a political hot potato always throw this little gem around.  Never experienced it, neither has anyone I know be it friend, family or peer.

Healthcare in the US is a joke and of course premiums are going to keep going up, what do you expect when private companies control every aspect of the process?

Consolidation means less competition and even less incentive to do anything for the consumer. Since there's no middle class anymore, its not long before we have a real life Elysium.

The government took away the idea of competition and now the insurance companies are consolidating, just like Obama wants. Eventually the Federal Government will control all health care and the system will be just as bad, poor, and long waiting like the VA health care. I would know, I"m a vet who's used the VA.

Maybe Obama is to blame. But the real blame lies with the people in this county who believe in the nonsense that 'socialism is evil',  'any program to help others is evil' and that the only goal in life is to be selfish and greedy. That's the American Way after all.

Obamacare is a pale shadow of what was promised but its a hell of a lot better than what the Rebublicans would've given us. In the end,  both parties are run by millionaires controlled by the elite and the last thing they want to do is help common folk.

Quite. If you have a mild complaint, or you can manage, be prepared to wait. But if you have a serious issue that needs treatment, you will be dealt with very quickly. My dad has received exceptional care overall for some heart issues in the last 4 or 5 years... I dread to think what the costs would have been without our health service.

We will be screwed over by our healthcare until we realize that socialism is not bad when it comes to social safety services.

Socialism has failed on every front that it has touched, except in failing and ruining lives in mass scale. Socialism has never worked and never will (unless you count North Korea as a success). The whole idea of taking from others and redistributing it to people who may not have put out any work or who are poor is theft, and does eventually discourage hard work.

Unions are an example of this, while the idea of people bargaining collectively to achieve better pay and benefits with a company is good, eventually most of the workers that I work with will refuse to do ANYTHING that is not in their job description, or even if it is they say well its not my problem.

Hard work is the only way to get ahead in life, health care will always be expensive because the corporations who manufacture drugs and medical equipment pay off politicians to keep prices high or to prevent new drugs from being released, or because the government bureaucracy is always too incompetent to run anything more complicated that a photocopier.

Maybe if the real problem is addressed, we wouldn't have a health insurance problem. Oh, and health insurance is NOT health care, it is insurance. Insurance is only their in case something happens, well the Obamacare marketplace makes me pay $400 a month in premiums with a $5,000 deductible (money you have to pay before the insurance will cover anything) per person and then only pays 80%. If I don't have health insurance, or it doesn't meet "Obama's" standard of minimum coverage, then I will receive a fine every tax year of (at this year) $813. Boy, that sure does give incentive, if I can't afford to pay $4,000 a year just in premiums, which doesn't cover ANY medical cost, then I am fined nearly a grand for not paying. Furthermore, tax credits are useless.

North Korea is a dictatorship. It has abosultely nothing to do with socialism and communism.

Free healthcare != socialism country.

That's why you have the low salary in there... if you was living in another area more metropolitan like... you could find the same job but getting three times the salary.

Cuba is a good example in how socialism has advanced healthcare in that poor country. They have the best healthcare system in the world and they even have the cure for colon cancer that the US is trying to get.

Are you saying that if someone is trying to be successful and is poor and need help to advance in life is a thief? lol... your head needs to be check.

Oh okay, if Cuba is your example then you are naive. They have a great dictatorship (not to the extent of North Korea) and a crappy human rights record. I really hope that you don't mean your above statement.

I am simply stating that there are plenty of people abusing the welfare system in America, there are plenty of unemployed people who could easily find a job but it is not worth it compared to the benefits the government will give.

You need to get your head checked, furthermore your avatar is quite inappropriate. I was made to remove my US Marine avatar because it was "offensive", yours is a lot more offensive than mine.

Looking at your avatar there is nothing that I can or will say that will ever change your mind, and it is quite evident that you are a flaming democrat.

It would be very hard to move, I'd have to sell my house and that's hard to do...

Keep believing the myth. This is the same 'you are only poor because you don't work hard' bs that Republicans feed the masses.

The real problem is there is no possible reason to not have universal healthcare for every citizen, esp in the supposedly 'best' country in the world. Govt beauracracy etc works just fine in most other countries in the world which do have national healthcare, as much as Americans like to make fun of them. The govt and media have brainwashed Americans into believing that the American way must be best with no actual evidence behind such reasoning.

Insurance is just a scam designed to make the healthy and the poor subsidize costs for the rest. A country which spends trillions on war and trillions of lots of other things can surely offer universal healthcare to all, but the only thing that matters in this country is profit.

And btw, the real thiefs are the rich and elite, 99% of whom got rich by legally stealing from the poor, not paying their fair dues to society, and manipulating the system to write laws in their favor.

The basic tenet of any civilized society is to take care of those less fortunate - but again that is very Anti-American, we are taught to crush those beneath us and look down upon them while beating our chests and claim we are better, that's how we treat the rest of the world.

Exactly and the ironic thing is that the Republicans always drag about been Christians and god here and god says... however god and Jesus always were looking for the less fortunate to help and heal them. However Republicans put religion in something that they never believe or put in practice.

Republicans donate more to charity than democrats. You don't hear about it because CNN doesn't like to cover it.

Great example of Democrat greed: Hilary Clinton. Yah she cares so much about people that only about 10% of donations go to charity, the rest goes into her pocket.

Government needs to have separation of church and state, something Democrats like talking about until it comes to increasing taxes and giving to those who are perfectly capable of working hard and becoming rich, or at least middle class. Nobody ever got anywhere by mooching, and like I said NOT ALL PEOPLE DO THAT ON WELFARE BUT A GREAT AMOUNT DOES!!!.

Lets put it this way:

It's not YOUR money but you want to take it and give it to others who didn't earn it. But if you so believe in socialism, I would like to see you donate 60% of your income after taxes to the poor and live off of the remaining 40%. That is something not one of you on this forum would do, which makes you hypocrites. It's always okay if it's somebody else's money, especially if their wealthy (unless you are a wealthy Democrat), but when it comes to your own "Oh no I worked too hard for it, its mine".

Its NOT the Republicans/Rich people's money either! Legally stealing from others because they write laws to make it legal, and pardon the white collar criminals and Wall Street, doesn't make it ok.

Its well known that rich people donate much less and don't believe in charity. I pay a huge portion of my income as taxes, the rich don't, but thats legal, and they want even more taxes, because they lie that they 'create' jobs, what a joke.

You keep spouting this nonsense with no basins in facts or even in fake facts, you seem to be averse to any hard work and effort which is how most rich and middle class got to where they are, not waiting for "free" government money like the leeches we so care about these days

Love how you call me a thief because I busted my ass to go from poverty to lower middle and working my way up, that's who you hate

I'm not attacking you, I'm talking about the truly rich who pay 1% or fewer tax, want more tax cuts, blame the poor for not working hard, want even more concessions made to them  etc. BS like 'tax cuts for rich create jobs' is all too easily believed by most people even though there is no evidence for it.

In case you are not aware, there is no class  mobility in this country anymore and the middle class is all but gone. We are all slaves working hard to feed wealth to the 1%.
