Can't clean install Windows 10 builds 10130, 10158, 10159 and 10162

Recommended Posts

As the title says. I had build 10074 in an ASUS K45A laptop which has pretty modern hardware. Newer builds failed to install with different errors and they keep reverting to build 10074 after several reboots.

After a two week trip I decided to clean install build 10158 converting the ESD to ISO. I got an error after the first reboot with something like "installation sources could not be found" (build was ES-MX). I did a couple or tries and they also failed with the same error.

I have now tried build 10130, 10159 and today build 10162 from the original ISO. All of them failed. I have tried different USB sticks, I use UEFI installs and even tried with normal booting (non-UEFI) without luck. Trying to clean install build 10162 EN-US also failed.

The SSD and RAM are fine and I even updated the BIOS/UEFI to the latest version. The problem occurs.

Searching for this specific problem didn't show concrete results. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I'm in the process of updating my Windows 8.1 installation sources to incorporate the june updates and I will try to clean install it and see if I can upgrade to Windows 10 build 10162 from it.

Edit 1: I also tried a DVD with build 10158 from ISO.

Edit 2: The USB sticks were made with diskpart and manually copying the ISO files. Tried making one with Rufus and it failed as well.

what program did you use to create the bootable usb stick? I used unetbootin which worked fine. You should try burning v10162 to a DVD-R, this would eliminate any iso program convertion faults and usb faults. If it still doesn't install after using a dvd-r then it is probably bios/uefi related.

I made the USB sticks manually using diskpart as I always do. I made one with Rufus just to make sure and the same thing happended.I forgot to mention that I tried build 10158 with a DVD and the same problem occurred. I will edit the main topic to include this.
