onewarmslime
So, I enabled the setting in control panel but the start up sound still doesn't play (I didn't change the default sound). Is anyone else having this problem?
BeerFan
Please check to see if your speakers are plugged in and powered on. Totally kidding there... just seemed like fun. I did the same thing... enabled the Windows Startup sound, rebooted, and nothing. If memory serves, it's been that way through most of the Insider builds along the way. onewarmslime 1 Share

Rohdekill
I encountered something similar, only when launching something requiring sound (e.g., skype, an mp3, etc.). It kept switching over to another playback device. Disabling unwanted playback devices resolved my issue.
BeerFan
It's playing for me now. Same startup sound as Win7. Guess this was something fixed in the recent cumulative update?
