FOX59 has confirmed Jared Fogle, the former Subway spokesman, is expected to plead guilty to possession of child pornography charges.

Sources say Fogle will accept a plea deal Wednesday. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will hold a press conference tomorrow afternoon to discuss the deal and charges against Fogle.

Fogle’s attorney, Ron Elberger, had no comment in regards to the plea deal. He said any information regarding the charges would come from the attorney’s office. Elberger did say Fogle’s suspension with Subway continues.

The charges come after federal agents raided Fogle’s Zionsville home in early July. FBI sources confirmed to FOX59 state and federal investigators were serving warrants at his home in connection with a child pornography investigation. Several computers and DVDs were seized from Fogle’s home.

So what's he charged with exactly?

 

At the very least posession of child porn, which in the US is a major state or federal felony. The worst case would be if he participated in the abuse and/or production & distribution of the images or videos, in which case he could get up to life. Not 20 years "life" but the long haul.

The stunning fall of Jared Fogle, who turned an unconventional college diet into a career as Subway's ubiquitous pitchman, ends Wednesday after prosecutors said he informed the court and their office that he intends to plead guilty to having sex with a minor and possessing child pornography.

Prosecutors allege that Fogle knew the pornography had been secretly produced by the former director of his charitable foundation, which sought to raise awareness about childhood obesity and arranged for Fogle to visit schools and urge children to adopt healthy eating and exercise habits.

Fogle sat in court with his hands clasped and quietly answered "no" when the judge asked whether he had any questions about his rights. He is expected to enter the formal plea at a later date to one count each of travelling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and distribution and receipt of child pornography.

"Today Jared Fogle has been charged and has admitted to participating to a five-year criminal scheme to exploit children," Josh Minkler, an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of Indiana, said at a press conference.

The agreement released by prosecutors said Fogle agrees to pay $1.4 million in restitution to 14 minor victims, who will each receive $100,000. He will also be required to register as a sex offender and undergo treatment for sexual disorders.

The government agreed not to seek a sentence of more than 12 1/2 years in prison, and Fogle agreed not to ask for less than five years, according to court documents.

Federal judges have wide discretion in sentencing. The child-porn charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. The count involving sex with a minor is punishable by up to 30 years.

So what happened to the whole it wasn't Jared but someone in his organization?


More evidence...new info released.  Not a lot of info was released before but they supposedly have videos and other things they took from Jared's house.  His business partner was part of it.

Jared...what a ######ing idiot.  He had a good life going for himself and he tossed it all away.

Proves once again that we really know nothing about these so-called celebrities that are showered with attention in our culture. I don't have any witty jokes to make about Jared like some of the posts above. All I know it that kids were victimized and to me that's not funny in the least.

I'm generally not an 'eye for an eye' person, but I hope Jared gets the usual treatment given to pedies in prisons. ;)

Don't be surprised if the judge goes beyond the plea deal sentence recommendations. Federal judges can, and do, exceed them in cases involving heinous crimes. These guys are big, fat walking bulls-eyes.

This plea deal is light ... 5-12 years...really???  He needs to be castrated and never see the light of day (aside from the small window in his prison cell).

  • Between 2011-2015, Fogle received "visual depictions of numerous minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct" from Russell Taylor, the former executive director of the Jared Foundation .
  • Fogle and Taylor discussed the fact that Taylor was producing child pornography at his home, and that Fogle would receive a "significant amount" of that material.
  • None of the minors in the images or videos were aware they were being filmed.
  • Some of the minors depicted in pornographic materials were as young as 6 years old.
  • Between 2010-2013, Fogle traveled from Indiana to New York City to pay for sex with minors.
  • Fogle "repeatedly asked" one of his minor victims and other people to "provide him with access to minors as young as 14 years old" for sex.
  • Beginning in 2007, Fogle discussed his interest in paying for sex with minors with several people in Florida, Georgia and Washington.
  • Fogle offered to pay sex workers a "finder's fee" to provide him with access to minors for sex.
