Gaming PC Build Critique

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about giving my 3 year old PC a refresh in the next month or so and would like some comments / suggestions on the build I'm thinking about. My current specs are:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge
  • Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler
  • Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z77
  • Memory: G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1866 x2
  • SSD: SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC256D/AM 2.5" 256GB
  • Power Supply: CORSAIR HX Series HX750
  • Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 690
  • Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 Mid-Tower Gaming Case - Arctic White
  • Storage: 2 x 2GB Hard Drives

I'll be keeping the Case, SSD, 2 storage drives and the power supply. New components:

My biggest concern is if the jump from the GTX 690 to the GTX 980Ti is enough to warrant an upgrade or hold out. The 4GB ram on the 690 is a little limiting when it comes to playing GTA V with the settings I'd like.

Suggestions welcome!
