Bugs & things we are aware of for IPB 4.1

Recommended Posts

Below are some of the more important features that have been complained about, but are totally on our list of things to do.

  • Login modal on Main doesn't work - fixed
  • Social media logins on Main page doesn't work - fixed
  • Secure logins over HTTPS - fixed
  • PM dropdown menu on main formatting is incorrect and needs updating - fixed
  • Profile pic does not sync to main when updated on the forums - fixed
  • HTTPS everywhere not yet supported (new GPT ad tags now support this)
  • People being logged out randomly, and far too often- fixed
  • Main and sub nav have the same 'Forums name - fixed
  • Double posts and double quotes sometimes happen in comments - fixed
  • News comments have a lot of errors, including the above double posting errors - fixed
  • Cookie consent (required by EU law) added. - done
  • Add back Darkside to forums. - done
  • Restore old comments from before the upgrade as well as postcount
  • Add 5 min grace period for edits (does not show the edit line)  - done
  • Activity stream not close enough to older New Content, this will most likely be updated with a condensed view to replace Full Spy
  • Recent Activity list on main page does not refresh on clicking the button, some forum names are not formatted correctly
  • Upgrade to 4.1.6
  • Darkside editor toolbar needs updating

If it's on the above list it is acknowledged if it is in bold, it is not yet done.

BBCODE support was removed from 4.1 https://community.invisionpower.com/topic/422943-community-members-dont-like-all-the-ipb-changes/

To enter an image you simply paste the url to the image and then Enter

The above is the result :)

Oh, thanks! I didn't realize you could do that. :)

Guess my Image bug thread seems kinda pointless now.

Yeah the infamous IPB3 > 4 conversion swapped out the old post's  bbcode for html, and although it was supported in 4 still (by parsing it directly to HTML on post submit) it looks like they removed it fully in 4.1

Steve,

Can you add the mobile responsive issues to the list pretty please?

~snip~

Its not Forum bug but rather the Main Page bug, it does not use IPB.

That problem also exists on the main ipb site as well with youtube videos.

I pulled that up from the forum, not the main page...the issue exists with both.

It exists with any pasted external content sans plain text.

Nope, not a front page only issue.

Got it.

@DaveLegg @Simon @Steven P.

Tables created through CK Editor in IPB has 600 px width hard-coded, removing it makes the tables responsive and they no longer distort the view on mobile.

Can you please hack CK Editor to work around it?

Making width:100% also solve this issue, though it looks ugly then for large screen.

CKEditor doesn't have a button for creating tables in the forums, so I'm guessing what adrynalyne posted above was copy and pasted from one of our news stories, and thus brought the styling over from that.

The bug is in our news admin panel where the stories are written, and that code is put straight into the forum posts, so while it may cause a rendering issue on the forums, the bug is in the news side that is creating the post, not in the forums.

We are looking into it either way

A bunch of fixes for comments just went live. This includes a fix for the famed double post issue.

For now, there will continue to be old posts that are duplicated. We're considering whether or not to retroactively fix those posts - but for now, at least new posts shouldn't have that problem.

If you guys are planning on (eventually) allowing HTTPS on the forums for non-subscribers, you'll likely need this free mod to help with the mixed content warnings due to various images. Actually, you'll probably need it for the subscribers using HTTPS currently anyways.

No image proxy is actually built into 4.1.

Hooray!  Was really friggin annoying having to edit my post every time, though at least the editor is usable now.

Thanks all.
