Do I need an Xbox One to buy games?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

It would seem like a strange question, but here goes.

I plan to buy an Xbox One in March 2016, but I would like to take advantage of the holiday deals this Christmas. What I would like to do is

1. Buy Xbox games or Redeem Xbox Live codes(I can see that xbox.com has the option to buy games and redeem codes)

2. Redeem Xbox Live Gold code and stack up on that free games(Games with Gold) :)

Is this really possible with just an Xbox account and without a console?

/B

Can't you activate codes via xbox website?

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/billing/prepaid-codes/redeem-code

On Xbox.com

  1. Visit the Redeem Code page on Xbox.com.
  2. Enter your 25-character token code. Don’t worry about hyphens, the system will take care of those for you.
  3. Click Redeem Code. You’ll receive a confirmation message.

That would be my guess too as i know you can grab the games with golf FREE games without owning an Xbox One.

Yes

Depends on the game.

Play Anywhere titles are dual-platform (Windows 10 and XBOX ONE); purchase on one, get the other free (in both directions).

This topic is almost a year old. Play Anywhere was not announced when he answered :p

And it has been possible to buy games for your account, whether or not you own an xbox console, ever since the Xbox Store on Xbox.com went live. Play Anywhere now allows you to play some of those games on PC.
