Slick D
I am a first time user and heard that this is a good place to ask questions. I have a laptop 900mhz 256mb 20gig running windows xp. WIndows loads so many services that it takes a good chunk out of my sytem memory. Does anyone know what services are needed or where I can get a description of the services loaded so I know which I can disable. Thanks :D
hurting101
Big article on all services here: http://www.3dspotlight.com/tweaks/winxp_services/ (Press Next at the bottom a couple times to get to services)
Kosh Naranek
you could also set all services to manual and then use your PC for a while, like you normally do, and then check to see which services have been started and then set them to automatic. N.B When you set all services to manual your PC will start somewhat slower than usual !
JustinLerner
If you set all to manual, you may have a non-booting PC. If you get a blue error screen on boot up, the next time you reboot, ensure you press the F8 key and select the Last Known Good Configuration !!!!
