how do you get windows 2000 drivers to work with xp?

the thing is my modem (hcf pci 56k rockwell) it works fine on windows 2000 but when i upgrade to xp it messes up and i have to install a different modem driver which is much much slower...

windows 98=52kbps

windows 2000=50.6kbps

windows xp=40.2kbps

i tried upgrading from 2000 to xp but it changes the driver....

well its kinda tricky

first open your computer case. then try putting salt on the modem. if you have bread crumbs you might wanna sprinkle them on the cpu. next rip a page out of a porn mag. it has to be a hot chick, if its not it wont work. once youve done this then you can close the case and start your computer up once again. the driver installation should go as directed then.

hope this helps

In addition to updating the driver to your 2000 driver, you should probably configure your Dial-Up connection to use different settings if possible.

In Dial-UP Connection settings, disable multi-link connections, enable LCP extensions (if needed by your ISP), disable hardware modem compression, enable software Dial-Up compression (two different areas), use Unsecured Password (cleartext) not encrypted authentication if possible for your ISP (since most don't use encryption without extra fees). Try disabling hardware error correction and hardware flow control (in modem settings, not Dial-Up settings). Set the port speed to the fastest bitrate you can -- maybe 115200 or 128000 or higher. Also Disable File and Print sharing and Client for Microsoft Networks for the Dial-Up connection. On the modem connection settings, set S10=255 if you can. Some of these things will have no effect on connection speed, but will increase your security.
