Veeam backup on unified Storage and Tape Library Questions

Hi

I have some request to have Veeam on a unified Storage as Path ( not a backup appliance )

but how will the veeam work with a tape library if we need to tape out some backups ?

 

I dont know how that will work with the unified storage ( with backup appliance VTL License will solve it )

 

what how to connect tape here ?

 

will it be managed by the veeam software ?

 

I read that we will need veeam license of Native tape support

 

will that scenario work ?

I think for the tape backup options you need to have the full enterprise edition not just the free edition. If it's anything like their monitoring solution then it can get quite expensive as the licensing is per socket per device.

 

Best option is to download one of their 30 day trials and figure it out IMO.

 

I don't have any experience with this (or any backup software really) but I'm about to get involved in a project with tape backups (backup exec) so it would be interesting to know how you find this.
