GG
Hi, I currently have 2 2008 R2 DC's, both are DNS servers. I have another server that I just did a fresh install of 2012 R2 that I will use to make the upgrade easier. Since we use static ip's, I would like to keep the existing ip's. When do I change the ip's from old server to the new,? When do I demote the existing server? I am planning on working with the secondary DC. It's a DNS server and a GC. Any help appreciated. Thanks. daorbed9
This is definitely not enough to solve your issues but can read this for some more information. Migrating from one version of server has never been a simple process. Always issues. Be prepared for an adventure and lots of reading to solve some of your issues. http://www.elmajdal.net/WindowsServer/How_To_Migrate_Windows_Server_2008_Active_Directory_Domain_Services_To_Windows_Server_2012.aspx This seems to be the most complete I see. Honestly this is something if you have to ask...
binaryzero
- Join the new server to the domain, promote to DC. - Transfer FMSO roles to new server - Decom old server. Rough idea.
