First impressions of Forza Motorsport 6: Apex

So this is Forza 6 Apex, Microsoft's first PC version of its critically acclaimed and highly loved racing game and simulator. So what's it like? Well, I'm hear to give YOU my first impressions. TL:DR pretty good!

I've played a little bit of it, before its first patch. It was OK, but suffered from performance issues for no apparent reason. Hopefully after the last 2 patches it will be better, will hopefully get chance to try it!

And apparently there is an issue with Intel's 4th Generation and later GPUs and Windows 10 - however, it's not the usual issue.

 

I found out that despite the fact that Intel's HD4400 *does* support DX12 (specifically DX12 feature 11.1), for some rather odd reason, Forza 6 Apex won't install on Redstone (but will install on Threshold).

 

I did a deliberate reversion back to Threshold to test the DX12 support of the iGPU once I discovered it due to Forza 6 not installing on the HD 4xxx - it's one feature that the iGPU has that my discrete GPU outright lacks.

 

Very odd quirk this.

 

Weren't we supposed to have solved "versionism" by now?
