Vignesh
Good Morning All, I recently purchased this WD 1TB HDD but have been unable to format/use it. I've attached a screenshot from Disk Management. I've tried deleting the volume and creating a new simple volume but the progress freezes at the format stage. Any help with this one? Corvid19
If it's not faulty hardware it could be a compatibility issue with your system. I would plug the drive into another PC (if you can) and see if you can format there.

Rail Grinder
Just run command prompt as an administrator and run diskpart as follows: diskpart list disk [look at the list and select your disk #, should be the same as the disk # listed under disk management] select disk # clean Next time you go into disk management, you should be prompted if you want to initialize the disk. Follow the prompts to do so and format the drive as needed. Otherwise you can continue with diskpart after the clean command: diskpart list disk [look at the list and select your disk #, should be the same as the disk # listed under disk management] select disk # clean create partition primary format fs=[Filesystem type: NTFS, FAT32] quick assign
