Microsoft today released an update to its Authenticator app on iOS, bringing the version number to 4.1. Of course, if you're on the TestFlight beta, you got the update almost a week ago.
Today's new build adds some much-needed new features. First, it's much easier to add a personal Microsoft account. Rather than having to find and scan a QR code, you'll be able to select between a personal or work/school Microsoft account, and there's also an "other" option, for accounts from Google, Facebook, and more.
The app also now supports push notifications. You'll no longer have to go inside of the app to copy a code; simply approve or deny a sign-in from the notification.
If you're wondering when these features will be coming to Android, there's no need to worry. Android has had the full feature-set since the app launched over a month ago. At the time, the company offered a beta program for anyone on iOS that wanted new features sooner.
Microsoft warns that if you already had a personal account set up in the app, you'll have to add it again after the update to take advantage of the new features. You can find Microsoft Authenticator in the App Store here.
