Kid Death
I did an upgrade install of XP on my current system. Most of my data is on my my secondary drive under NTFS. Now if I was to do a clean install of XP on the primary drive, and perhaps disconnect the secondary drive during this whole process, would all the data stored on the secondary remain? There's about 40GB of data on the secondary and I don't want to burn it all on CD because it would take too long. Call me lazy. Any help would be appreciated. Or if you have a better procedure I'd love to hear it. -Bruce
mariusu
clean install of xp is way better than an update/upgrade, it will work way better...as far as i know, an upgrade will work slower and cause problems. as for the other thing: i don't really understand what you mean: if you don't overwrite or delete the data on the second hd, of course it will be there. you should also be carefull, with encrypted folders under ntfs, once you did a clean install, it will not be so easy to get to your data, so take care if you don't get it, message back...i think you should also rephrase your problem a little bit:D
David123987
I did a clean install with all 3 of my drives, 2 with tons of saved prog. and backup files, still connected with no problem. Just make sure your installing it on the correct drive. It will not delete any data off the other drives unless you format them or try to install on one of them.:o
