I have no problem with the "Try before you buy" mentality. If I believe a piece of software is truly worth the money, then I'll pay for it, if not, then chance are I won't be using it anyway. What does annoy me is "web warez" with seemingly endless popups, or programs like Kazaa, where kids download a couple of pieces of virus laden software and think they're "l337" all of a sudden.

I dont promote it, nor do I distibute anything, but I have used them. I may continue to use them for some things for the very reason, that software companies are pathetic. But warez sites are fronts for making money from popups and porn! That I am 100% against! Software companies rip us off more times than we can imagine, forcing us to pay for updates and so on. They caused it all, with bloated priceing and taking advantage of people. Do they all think we are rich? So warez come in handy when you need to use a product thats to costly, especially for teens.

I do use alot of software like StarOffice and free or by donation software, and I do donate because I believe they deserve 100% of my money, because they are being honest. Long live the makers of quality Freeware or Donationware! :rambo:

It's also my opinion that warez is changing because I use to use plain warez  sites but all the porno and pop-up windows made me stray from that to where I just use Kazaa type programs to get all my software and then I go hunting on warez sites if there is something hard to find.

give me a ****in break, if you or your parents have enough dosh to get a 16 year old kid a 96 mustang, and pay for the insurance, maintenance, etc on it then you have enough money to pay for your **** pure and simple.

I only have ever bought 1 software title. Half-life. Which i then took back to the shop and got some more online codes and sold the ones i had to friends :D

Software prices are stupid, i go round looking in PCworld at people buying Windows XP and Office XP for like ?300ish. I just laugh at them all, handing over big wedges of cash all to get the newist products and then getting home and finding out they have to download 100's of updates for it and its only been out for 1 month.

The only thing i buy for my computer is hardware, but i dare say if you could download that for free from KaZaA i would:DD

Warez 0wns!!!

oh yeah real nice mentality there pal. So i guess you're just going to steal a car cos with gas and insurance its too bloated. Oh lets not forget if you ever decide to buy a house cos then you'll be dealing with home insurance and interest on your mortgage payments.

grow the **** up and quit coming up with these lame excuses on why you pirate software. Be a man and just admit that you can't be assed buying them.

First of all my father is out of work right now and I pay for my car 100%. My parents have only paid for an oil change and got me the loan - but I pay all of the insurance, the car payment and all the repairs on my car. So try getting the full story before making ignorant judgements.

I'm not the ****tard that came on a bulletin board sobbing and bitching about why i pirate software now was I?

Besides that I highly doubt that at 16 you would have a job that even pays enough to afford being insured let alone a car payment and repairs.

My point was that I don't have the money to pay $2-600 for each piece of software that I use like Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop... and I do have a job that pays that - if you want i can even e-mail you my staff bio on my companys webpage. I also wasn't complaining i was just giving the reason why i use warez. Lighten up and get a clue.

Hello, if you cant afford it either do 1 of 2 things:

1. don't use it and go for a cheaper alternative

2. use it and don't go admitting it on a bulletin board

can a mod please close this thread to put an end to people stupidly incriminating their asses?

I see alot of people get WindowsXP from warez, I dont know how you bypass the security, but thats your business. Microsoft is a good point to bitch at. They released XP to early, and infact an incomplete, or damaged product. If you bought a stereo that broke down everyday, or was already broken in the box, you would take it back, or the company would go out of business. Microsoft gets away with murder. They even admit to "getting the product out before it's done, then fix it while its running on consumers computers" - Thats the BS Im talking about. Thats why I laugh when I see in the news Asian countries selling the OS for $3. :D

wrong, people here who bitch about software prices are the idiots my friend. in most cases the price of software is based on supply and demand. sure, office costs ~500.00 retail, but that's because people (professionals) are willing to pay that amount. show me a 16 year-old kid who needs Office and i'll show you a liar. Word itself used to cost 200 dollars just by itself in the mid-90s. as more people started to use it, microsoft lowered it's price to ~100.00 and threw in other simpler applications into it (evolving into MS Works).

college students (like myself) can get software cheap through educational discounts provided by the companies and the universities. having software is not a life or death situation, you either choose to use it or seek alternatives. if you're in a business situation and you need the software to stay competitive, suck it up and buy it. complaining about software prices while having a 96 mustang at 16 is sheer lunacy. it's your choice - you made the choice to choose to use 'free' software over legally paying for it and not having the car.

if you chose to use warez, fine, be happy with that. don't use the rhetoric that people are charging exorborant amounts for it.

you paid for StylesXP? heh [smacks forehead]. you should've opted for the free .dll patch and purchased Windowblinds for the same amount. :) that way you would have two options for the price of one.
