chriskober
Here Goes,... I just got a New Motherboard and PIII 1Gig. The New MB has a VIA Chipset and My old MB has Intel. All I want to do is Unplug everything and install the New MB and CPU, Plug in my HD's and Power Up. I know i have to config the Bios and what not. But my main concern is Windows Starting Properly. Will the VIA vs the Intel cause a prob? What should I do so I dont Have to Format. To much Info to Lose on my 2 HD's??? Thank You Chris

zivan56
It shouldnt cause any problems, I upgraded my mobo and cpu 2 years ago and when i started it up, it didnt ask for driver or anything.
Roger H. Veteran Posted February 16, 2002 Veteran Share Posted February 16, 2002 try safe mode first when you boot up IF IT DOESN"T BLUE SCREEN. It might say something about a boot device failure. You might have to install XP over the one you have by choosing the repair option but you wouldn't loose anything.
