athlon
I am the admin, and I forgot my password. I am going to reinstall Win2K over the existing one. I have changed bios to boot CDROM first, how do I get into c: prompt. Tried F8 but that only gives me safe mode prompt.
othernutrient
Don't bother reinstalling. Reset the password using this NT password reset boot disk: http://www.nttoolbox.com/download.htm It is under "Admin Tools" and is "NT Admin Boot Disk." If you still want to reinstall Windows 2000, you can just boot off the CD and the setup wizard will allow you to delete and recreate the partition Windows is installed on. If you need to access files off the partition (and it is FAT or FAT32) you need a regular Windows 9x bootdisk (see www.bootdisk.com for one); you can't do it from the 2000 CD or if the partition is NTFS formatted. configure Veteran Posted February 17, 2002 Veteran Share Posted February 17, 2002 I *think* you can make a win98 bootdisk which would allow you to boot into the command prompt. If you don't have Windows 98, you can download bootdisk maker from the address below and give it a shot http://www.polarhome.com/service/bootdisk/...ows/win98se.exe G'luck :D
