After a long period of inactivity, windows automatically kicks me back to the welcome screen. This is a problem because when I am sending a video to my digital camcorder via firewire I get a break in the output while windows is switching. Is there any way to shut this off? Kieran Posted February 18, 2002 Share Posted February 18, 2002 I think this is because the screen saver is becoming active and as default in XP, when you quit from the screen saver it takes you back to the welcome screen. To stop this, right click on the desktop and click properties, then click on the screen saver tab and untick the box that says 'on resume, display welcome screen'.
