john smith 1924 Veteran Posted April 1, 2004 Veteran Share Posted April 1, 2004 I hardly trust any news that have been posted today  but whatever. lol :) Whats the rush for a beta? Some of the alphas have been pretty stable. I'd rather they took their time and made a solid + feature rich product, rather than rush out Win ME v2

nuka_t
plus, as long as they are in prefinal stages, we sont have to pay for it and its not toooo illegal.
chuayw2000
maybe they will just hold back some new features when Longhorn comes out and then later come out with Windows Longhorn SE to make more bucks.

Knight'
Sounds bad really, it means they haven't got much further than the previous Alpha releases. God I hope this doesn't turn into another Neptune saga!
Pumamx
hi i understand something not! beta version means that it is a test version right? alpha version means that it is a full ready version, or  ??? What? hmmmm..... Software writing in major stages: 1 - Alpha is a development version. 2 - Beta is to test the development. 3 - RC means "Release Candidate" and is a version that *could* go final barring any major problems. 4 - I think already know what final means, so I won't patronize you. ;)
