Probably no LH beta this year

Whats the rush for a beta? Some of the alphas have been pretty stable. I'd rather they took their time and made a solid + feature rich product, rather than rush out Win ME v2

maybe they will just hold back some new features when Longhorn comes out and then later come out with Windows Longhorn SE to make more bucks.

Sounds bad really, it means they haven't got much further than the previous Alpha releases. God I hope this doesn't turn into another Neptune saga!

Software writing in major stages:

1 - Alpha is a development version.

2 - Beta is to test the development.

3 - RC means "Release Candidate" and is a version that *could* go final barring any major problems.

4 - I think already know what final means, so I won't patronize you.
