Office 2003 Toolbar Icons

Recommended Posts

Why can't you use them? These were stripped from the dll's.

If using them in your programs you should be able to set a transparent color programmatically.

If you want real icons. you can use an icon prog to convert them to .ico.

You can use Resource Hacker to extract any icons from any exe file. Just load the exe or dll file into Resource Hacker and look under Icons or something like that. Select any icons you like right click and click save icons.... Easy.

There's an Excel add-in which I have at home (and if the thread starter had searched the forums, he would have found it) which allows you to export any Office 2003 icon maintaining the alpha-blended characteristics.

Search next time, friend.

@dougkinzinger: I have searched the forums and with google in an attempt to find the add-in. With no luck. Apparently i fail to use the correct search terms. Would you be so kind to point to the thread containing the add-in or an url if it's located elsewhere? Cheers.

I have been searching almost continuously since the last post and finally stumbled(!) :woot: over the following site:

WinMatrix (Office 2003 Toolbar Icons thread):

http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?...opic=1008&st=15

It starts with 2 screenies and later in the thread there are links to 2 files which contain scripts to extract almost 2.5k icons.

I bet that's the xla script dougkinzinger meant

I upgraded from Office 2000 to Office 2003. Disappointed no toolbar, so I used CD1 Office 2000 and did a custom install - tools. Pressed start ---> Programs ---> Microsoft Office Tools and then double clicked Microsoft Office Toolbar. Hey presto, there it is ! Customise toolbar how you want. Icon colours a bit on pale side, but easily recognisable. AND IT WORKS!

See reply above: Sorry should have said CD2 not 1. CD2 is the one that has Microsoft Small Business Tools. Also I have now done office update from Microsoft site. Office Toolbar does not now automatically open on desktop. I have created desktop shortcut to resolve problem. The toolbar is , however, just a click away.
