Who is the greatest comedy group of all time? Is it The Marx Brothers, The Three Stooges, Monty Python, or someone else?

I'm a HUGE fan of Monty Python, however I see them as a update of The Marx Brothers and so that's who i go with.

Harpo, Chico, Groucho, Zeppo...you rule!

Hmm (just for the sake of petty argumentativeness) -- should a differentiation be made between what represents a team and what a troupe? I mean, Bob & Ray over here on the left side of the Atlantic are way up there in my estimation of comedy teams, but then again I wouldn't put them in the same jocular column as say the Marx Bros, MP, Beyond the Fringe, and the rest of their ilk.

Then again once more, should those like the Marx brethren be labeled as a team or a troupe? Ouf. Nevermind. My head's starting to hurt. :hurt:

Comedy is not pretty, and tends to cause flaking.

;) anyway that's my personal opinion :ponder:

They are in "others". Now, don't get me wrong, i like KITH but with dressing up in womens clothes and all, don't you think they got a good part of their inspiration from Monty Python?

Truthfully, the hardest ones for me to leave out were the Original SCTV and SNL casts. I think that they are some of the biggest influences on modern comedians.

For those who haven't seen the Marx Bros, you might want to run down to your local video store and rent some of their great movies such as A Night at the Opera, Cocoanuts, Monkey Business, A Day at the Races, Animal Crackers, Horse Feathers and especially Duck Soup.

Duck Soup has one of my favorite comedy lines in it. Groucho plays a leader of this country and they are at war and he's talking to this one soldier and says "You're a brave man. Go and break through the lines. And remember, while you're out there risking your life and limb through shot and shell, we'll be in be in here thinking what a sucker you are."

I remember reading an interview with dave foley where he said that their two main influences were Python and SCTV. Saying they were influenced by the two is certainly no insult and doesn't mean they copied them. KITH were/are certainly very very funny.
