Run WinXP from CD

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if you can run Windows XP from a CD somehow? Like I'd like to be able to make an installation of XP that is configured with certian apps and then be able to take it some where and run XP from a CD-rom drive for tech help or anything else.

I know you can do this Linux, but then again, you can do all most anything with Linux.

Too bad they got rid of MSDos. It was nice, but limited.

i nkow that there are people that have cloned DOS and added features. FreeDOS ( freedos.org ) for instance allows you to install to your hard drive or run from the CD that you can download and burn. There are more out there, just search around!

Just do a search for 'linux on floppy' and that should pull up some results. I know there is one called like Tom's BRT (I think that's what it's called) that can run linux with telnet and ftp and stuff on a floppy.
